Apologies for not getting back to you sooner. Here’s some information in response to your questions.

1) This email (support@redbubble.com) is answered by staff in the UK, Australia and San Francisco.

2) US customers should not need to pay any customs duties. They are covered in the price.

3) You may add a name or a signature to works if you wish. Your name is added to some products but the addition of a signature or printed name comes down to personal preference. I think the general consensus is that it needs to be fairly subtle so as not to put off buyers. There’s a little more discussion about this on our forums here.

4) You can open your store under either your business name, pen name or your own name. When you sign up, your username will form part of the links to your works so it cannot be changed. It’s worth keeping that in mind when you decide which one you’re going to choose! You can change your screen name to anything you like and this will be seen by people when you communicate with them via the site (leaving comments on works, posting in the forums and that sort of thing).

5) And finally – your question on taxes. I’m not sure what type of taxes you’re referring to but if you mean income tax, with members located in different countries with different tax cycles, individuals need to take responsibility for their personal book keeping during the year. We do not take out any amount for income tax. Any taxes associated with manufacturing are looked after by RedBubble.

Hope this answers your questions but please do drop us a line if you need any further information.

Cheers,
Natalie

Hi, I’m interested in opening a store (I’m located in the U.S.A.) and was wondering if you could answer these questions:

1) Does your San Francisco office have an email address for support?

2) If I set up a store with you guys, do my American customers have to pay customs duties if they purchase any items from my store? Or is it already included in the cost of the items? (markup price not withstanding)

3) I’m gonna start licensing my designs under my business name here in the U.S. but I was wondering if it’s permissible to put that name on my Red Bubble items within the artwork as a means of self-promotion?

4) If I open a Red Bubble store, may I do it using either my business name or artist pen-name?

5) Last but not least, your section covering taxes is small. It’s a little confusing to an outsider. Being American, I wanted to know since the product ships out of Australia, I’m assuming tax is paid to that country (businesses in the U.S. generally pay tax to whichever state product ships from) but, does Red Bubble automatically take out of customer’s profits for taxes? Because that’s how I’d prefer it. Or, is there some separate form Americans have to fill out, and if so, do you provide a link to it?

I eagerly anticipate your responses to all these questions. Thank you for your time. And Happy Halloween!
